It was a great day to be a Titan in Stillwater, OK today. The Titans, continuing their road trip, are spending the weekend in Stillwater, Oklahoma, playing in a tournament with the Rhode Island Rams and Oklahoma State Cowboys. The Titans played a double header, so had the opportunity to meet both teams on the field and walk away at the end of each game victorious.
The Rams never knew what him them this afternoon. The Titans scored in every inning that they came to bat for a total of 17 runs by the bottom of the 8th. Tyler Pill picked up his third win, giving up 11 hits during his full seven innings of work, but only allowed three to cross the plate – the only runs that the Rams scored. Tyler faced 31 batters, struck out 5, and didn’t give out any free passes. Derrick Dingeman pitched two innings of relief, giving up no hits, but one base on balls, and had one strike out. Offensively for the Titans, the stars of the game were Gary Brown, who went 3 for 4, driving in 3 RBI’s and scoring 3 times; Billy Marcoe, who also went 3 for 4, walking once, scoring 3 times and driving in 1 RBI; and Jared Clark who went 2 for 4, one of which was a long ball, scored twice, and drove in the game high 4 RBI’s. Josh Fellhauer, Christian Colon, and Nick Ramirez all collected two hits during the game as well.
In the second game of the double header for the Titans, they continued to roll as they cruised past the Cowboys to defeat them 8-4. The Cowboys earned all 4 runs through home runs, the first giving them 2 runs and the other two being solo home runs. The Cowboys gave Titan pitcher Daniel Renken a hard time as they had 10 hits on the day, but couldn’t convert those hits into runs, stranding runners in scoring position several times throughout the game. Nick Ramirez got an opportunity to pitch a couple innings in relief while still holding down the DH position in the batting order.
For the Titans, Jared Clark went 5 for 5, scoring 3 times, but didn’t get any RBI’s in the evening contest. Tony Harkey got his 2nd start on the season, and managed to go 2 for 2 while driving in 4 RBI’s. Josh Fellhauer went 3 for 5, scoring twice and bringing in one. It was Josh who ended the Titans drive in the ninth as he was thrown out at the plate attempting to steal home. Gary Brown, Christian Colon, Nick Ramirez, and Khris Davis rounded out the Titans hits each getting a hit a piece. Michael Morrison recorded the final two outs of the game, making this the 6th straight game he has pitched in without allowing a run.
Tomorrow’s contest will be a rematch of the CSU Fullerton Titans against the Oklahoma State Cowboys, as the second game of the day while the Cowboys take on the Rams in the first game.
